Summary:
Plan, direct and manage operations in The Region to deliver company revenue and spending targets. Develop and execute a well-defined account strategy to increase sales and improve profitability. Product selection, promotional activity, everyday pricing, merchandising and shopper marketing tactics must all be considered in the strategy as well as the way in which they will be presented to the customer. Collaborate and coordinate work with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, finance, customer service and planning, to ensure the needs of the customer are being met. They must “live and breathe” the values of the company and demonstrate a commitment to leading with humility and collaboration. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who understands how to build high performing teams, and build strong collaborative partnerships.

This candidate should be ideally located on or near the West Coast region they will function in.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Account Lead

  • Develop and execute short- and long-term account strategies within The Region
  • Identify and quantify sales opportunities. Develop recommended strategies to maximize all sales opportunities within The Region.
  • Facilitate relationships at all levels at Amy’s and at the customer to ensure their needs are being met and to improve customer engagement. This includes relationships between sales, executives, marketing, customer service, accounting, demand planning, logistics, etc.
  • Play lead role in customer meeting preparation.
  • Conduct business review sessions as needed.
  • Provide a complete understanding of what is happening in The Region on a regular basis., including any changes at headquarters (buyer and organizational changes), retail (through store visits) and the competitive landscape.
  • Coordinate across regions/channels to ensure sales goals and objectives are being set/communicated/attained and customer needs are being met at all levels and in The Region.

Communication

  • Acquire a thorough understanding of key customer needs and requirements, including a thorough understanding of customer portal data when applicable
  • Maintain a full understanding of shopper marketing programs functionality and availability.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration through channel success teams ensuring that everyone is focused on key aspects of the business to build sales and drive customer engagement.
  • Manage successful launch of new products for the customers within The Region.
  • Ensure all customer agreements adhere to company guidelines and are documented, stored and shared with Amy’s internal teams (contracts, promotion plans, allowances, Vendor Policies).
  • Manage broker by setting and measuring goals and objectives, negotiating and updating broker contracts and keeping all broker commission grids current where applicable.

Planning

  • Plan and manage DME spend within The Region to insure we remain within agreed upon budget.
  • Continuously optimize promotional spend to drive profitable growth. Implement product/brand promotions and conduct post promotion analysis.
  • Keep demand planning apprised of all key inputs and relay any/all information that could affect demand in a timely manner.
  • Optimize all aspects of merchandising including maintaining optimal assortment, shelf position, distribution, and incremental/off-shelf placements.

Execution

  • Work towards aligning Amy’s and Customer’s pricing and promotional strategy. Ensure execution of agreed up plans.
  • Ensure pricing accuracy for Amy’s products within The Region. Audit retail pricing and contracts as needed.
  • Provide and track down backup for deductions, clear deductions, and resolve open and invalid deductions.

Qualifications and Skills:

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.


EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years of experience in food sales/management with a consumer products company.
  • At least 2 years of experience working within The Region preferred.
  • Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and energetic as this position will be home based and require good time management.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in both the Natural and Grocery channels.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL & COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strategic perspective and strong negotiation skills required.

Must be comfortable working at retail and executing our merchandising objectives on a limited basis, working with both frozen foods and dry grocery.

Overnight travel required. Travel frequency will depend on where candidate is based; up to 25-40% depending on business need.

California Compensation Range: $111,200-166,800
  • This range is for California employees in the Bay area. Other locations may be subject to a lower range.
